Layer: Proposed FAA Case (ID: 10)

Name: Proposed FAA Case

Display Field: case_num

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPoint

Description: A proposed construction that would affect navigable airspace, to be reviewed by the Federal Aviation Adminstration (FAA). This layer is part of the "Airspace Structures" map service, which contains information about airspace obstructions within the state of New Mexico. These obstructions may restrict development and include wind turbines, radar viewsheds, and power transmission lines, among other spatial features. Dataset was obtained from FAA Proposed Cases form at https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=showSearchProposedCasesForm. A search was performed for the state of New Mexico and results were copied into a spreadsheet. Coordinates were then converted to decimal degrees and added to ArcGIS Desktop as an X, Y Event layer. Recommended update schedule: updates are on a case-by-case basis but occur approximately every month. Once cases are determined to be a hazard to aviation, they are added to the FAA digital obstacle file. Recommended update concurrent with digital obstacle file data, every 1-3 months. Last updated: 12/31/2019 Recommended update schedule: 1-3 months
