Name: Kirtland AFB Low Alt Training and Navigation
Display Field: sdsfeatu_1
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Aircraft training areas related to Kirtland Air Force Base. This layer is a member of the "Military" feature dataset, which contains layers related to military installations and flight training areas in the state of New Mexico.
Data source: Document titled “Kirtland AFB_LATN Area Boundaries” was obtained on 10/2019 from representative of 58th Special Operations Wing of Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. Document listed latitude / longitude values (in units of degree-minute-seconds) for Low-Altitude Training and Navigation (LATN) boundary vertices. Decimal degree values were calculated by using the python 3.6 pandas library, though Excel can also be used. Dataset was then added to ArcGIS as XY Data, and lines were created between the vertices to create polygons.
Data update schedule: recommended yearly update
Contact notes: obtained from email correspondence with representative of 58th Special Operations Wing of Kirtland Air Force Base. Recommended yearly update via web search.

Description: Area that can support the weight and dimensions of a helicopter landing. Used during training exercises. This layer is a member of the "Military" feature dataset, which contains layers related to military installations and flight training areas in the state of New Mexico.
Data source notes: Document titled “BLM Helo Landing Zone Location Table” obtained from representative of 58th Special Operations Wing of Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. Dataset was opened in Excel and formatted so that it could be added to ArcGIS as X,Y Data. Areas were created by buffering points with radii specified in document.
